I have checked the settings and I have the 'delete from server' box checked and I went onto the server and the emails are not there but when I delete the emails on the app, they will disappear until the next time it refreshes itself. Android : K-9 Email - AKA Will It Only Download NEW Emails

I think the Droid's email system SUCKS. Unless you use G mail for all your email, it continuously downloads deleted emails, over and over and over.
PLEASE don't suggest I forward my mail to G mail, that just sends two years worth of emails to my G mail account. Wouldn't you think Moto could get email done as well as BB? NEVER had this problem on my BB.
My question is, has anyone used K-9 mail and will it solve my problem above in my rant? AKA will it only download NEW emails?

I just upgraded from a five year old phone, so apologies in advance. The geeks at Best Buy set up my email for me which works fine (after multiple trips back to the store). Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). HTC Hero :: Phone Doesnt Download IMAP Emails

I have a HTC Hero on o2 (an unlocked G2 Touch to be specific) which is set up to connect to my work email using the on-board mail app (the non-gmail one). As I have folders for my emails, I use IMAP both within Outlook 2003 at work and on the Hero. This all worked swimmingly for about 2 months and then recently I have noticed that I have been getting a lot fewer emails both on the Hero and within Outlook. I have also seen emails which I received during the day in Outlook disappearing after about an hour or so. I have spoken to my email provider and they tested it by sending me an email (genius) which strangely is still present in outlook, although it didn't appear on my hero. So in summary, it seems that I have two problems - my hero doesnt seem to download any emails, and my IMAP account is losing emails. I should probably add that my hero is configured to show all emails (irrespective of age or size). I have also checked my webmail and the emails are missing from there.

General :: Google Nexus 7 - Download Emails From Both Accounts?

I've used IOS for a while and wanted to try something different. That being the case I bought a google nexus 7 to play around with it. I have 2 google+ accounts set up on this phone because I play a game called Clash of Clans. I had to link both my IOS accounts over to 2 google play accounts. Now when I connect via Wi-Fi anywhere, it downloads the emails from both accounts. Is there a way for only allow for one of them to download? I'm not too familiar with this new operating system, so maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot.

I just got the sprint htc hero and setup the pop email with the native mail application. I am a Yahoo PLUS member, so I set it up as the yahoo mail site said to (plus.pop.mail.yahoo.mail etc). When I do a manual mail check, it takes FOREVER to download the emails! What is going on here? gmail is super fast to download, but the yahoo takes 5 minutes sometimes. i dont understand. I dont want to use the IMAP either.

Just got the 2.1 OTA upgrade on my Eris. The mail client is stuck on 'manual' for my Exchange account. I deleted the account and re-added it, but it still won't let me change it. I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?

Android :: Deleted Mail Come Back On G-mail

I'm having trouble with sync/delete working. I just started using G-Mail. I never needed it before (my home and work e-mail was enough). But now i do (looking for a new job and want the e-mails instantly on my phone). when i delete an e-mail on my phone (G-Mail account) it comes back. I use 'windows live' as the client on my desktop. it's like they are separate accounts. If i delete something on the desktop, it's still on my phone. If i delete something on the phone, it's still on the desktop my Exchange e-mail account works perfect (when i delete something in outlook, it's deleted on my phone at the same time).

Is there an app out there that allows me to assign different ringtone for different events like SMS, mail, voice mail....etc. is there a way to modify the XML file for this? currently there is only ONE notification sound for all events.

Whenever i send a .apk file via email as an attachment and then open the .apk-file in my phone from my email-account, i get a parsing error.
However if i put the .apk on my website and provide a URL to it, it works like a charm.

A bug? Just me? Am i doing it wrong?

That on new Android versions works very well, because, if the attachment is and apk then appear an install button. (on GMail native app)

But for older Android versions you will need and app like Email install this one : http://www.appbrain.com/app/email-installer/com.best.app.attachment

I experienced the same issue with Android ICS (4.0.4). I would suggest, do not try to open the attachment (.apk) if the gmail account is configured in the device. Instead, Open your gmail account in the browser,open the email and now try to download the attachment. It worked for me :) Hope it helps.

I can install apps received from in my gmail account. My exchange and pop mail accounts will not allow it.

FYI - If you have Astro File Browser make sure the 'Enable Browser Download' option is disabled. It is a handy feature to allow download of any file type, but it interferes with gmail attachments.

The easiest way to transfer and install is by emailing it. When sending, set your text settings to Unicode text, if for some reason it gives you a parsing error when trying to install on your phone. Astro or another of file browser app is useful for finding the file after you download it from email, just tried it and it worked fine. The only errors came when I used any other text setting in email besides Unicode. Unicode text and everything installed perfectly.

I started getting the error Can't find app to open file on Google's Inbox app when installing an .apk through it, but then I tried it in Gmail, and it worked like a charm.

I recently ran into this problem when sending an apk from Mail on OSX but the same apk installed when sent from gmail.

To investigate this issue, I saved the output from 'Show original' in gmail for the emails sent from gmail and Mail. I ran:
