Ive recently found out how to play Heroes 3 on mac. The game version I got is from gog.com. And the files include .exe. So basically you need files, where you have setup .exe to install the game with. This is what you need to do:
Download: PlayOnMac witch allows you to run windows files on mac, this also includes versions of 'Wine' https://www.playonmac.com/en/
After you have installed PlayOnMac, enter it and click install programs and follow the instructions. You need to choose a name for the game and the game .exe when needed.
After installing the game you automatically launch it.
If you DONT find the game after quitting it, I have a solution. Go to PlayOnMac again and enter 'Configuration'. You will then see the name you entered before. Click on it and you will get a option to create a shortcut.
