  After the hugely popular debut album Al Muallim, Sami had a lot of expectations with this follow. Fortunately this album is outstanding and would definately rank on par, if not better than his first. As with all albums, some tracks are better than others, however Hasbi Rabbi, Eid Song and Try Not to Cry are probably the best. There are some thought provoking lyrics, and Free certainly has you thinking about women who wear a hijab. For me this has been an album I an listen from start to finish and I will then want to listen to it again. The lyrics, music and composition of this are superb in every way. There is a version without the music, though sadly not available on iTunes. That itself gives some of the tracks another lease of life. Buy this album.. you definitely won't regret it!

  While lacking the power of his debut album, there is still much to enjoy here, although interestingly the Arabic and Turkish tracks have more intensity than the English-language ones. Still, a good album and a recommended listen for Yusuf fans.

  Overall this long awaited follow up album falls well short of Sami Yusufs debut al-muallim, its a bit of a mixed bag with some tracks seeming rushed or half baked demos. The title track my ummah is a particular disappointment. However the album does contain one track which was worth the wait, namely 'Try not to cry' featuring Outlandish, this is a truly beautiful son which goes straight to the heart!! Other OK tracks are Hasbi Rabbi and Mother, but lets hope Sami never attempts something like 'eid Song' again...
