Stephen Curry followed a record-breaking Game 2 with a clunker. He shot 3-of-16 from the field and missed his first nine 3s, one game after setting a Finals record with 9 3s.
Curry finished with 11 points in the game, with seven in the fourth, thanks in part to a huge 3 with 2:38 to go to put the Warriors ahead by four. James responded with a 3 of his own with 1:57 left to cut the Warriors' lead to 101-100. Durant's bomb made it 106-100.
'It was a big shot,' Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. 'I mean, he was four or five feet behind the line, and he raised up and made a big shot for them. So, you know, kind of like he did last year.
'Holding Steph to 11 points and Klay (Thompson) to 10, you would think you would win that game.'
In Game 3 last season, Durant drained a 3 with 45 seconds left to put Warriors up one and win that game, 118-113. Golden State won the 2017 Finals in five games.
Lue turned to Rodney Hood -- statistically the worst player in the 2018 playoffs -- for a spark, and Hood delivered. He scored 15 points off the bench with six boards on 7-of-10 shooting.
'I'm very happy for Rodney,' Lue said. 'Played a good game. He was aggressive.'
Kevin Love added 20 points and 13 boards. JR Smith added 13 points but shot 5-of-14 from the field.
The Warriors welcomed back 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala, who played for the first time since Game 3 of the Western finals and delivered eight points. Thompson shot 4-of-11 for 10 points.
'You might look at it and go, yeah, (Iguodala) had 8 points and whatever,' Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. 'But he gives us another guy to guard LeBron, and he gives us another guy to settle us down and keep us on the right path.'
Kyle Korver was brutal once again for the Cavs, missing all four of his shots. He is now 8-of-29 shooting in eight Finals games against the Warriors, dating back to last season.
The Cavs led by as many as 12 in the first quarter and seemed to signal they intended to take this one to the champs. James threw one off the backboard -- to himself, no less -- and slammed it home in between Durant and Thompson with 9:36 left in the quarter. Yes, he did something similar in Game 4 of last year's Finals, too.

But Durant sucked most of the life out of the Cavs' first spurt with 13 points, and Cleveland's lead was only 29-28 after one.
If not for Durant, this would've been a blowout by halftime. Curry and Thompson were a combined 3-of-15 from the field and Curry was 0-of-5 from 3. Love had a monster first half with 15 points and 10 boards, Smith was up to 10 points, and James was at his usual 14 points, nine assists, and six boards.

Then there's Durant. He was 7-of-10 from the field with three 3s and 7-of-7 at the line for 24 of the Warriors' 52 points. The Cavs scored 58. Durant's 3 with .9 seconds left cut Cleveland's lead to six.
One mention about Durant's free throws. He took seven more than the Cavs in the first half. The Warriors were 12-of-13 from the line through two quarters -- another method for keeping it close.
Golden State entered play outscoring playoff opponents by 133 points in the third quarter. Add eight more to that total. McGee scored eight points in the first 4:16 of the period -- a 16-5 run for the Warriors -- and Durant scored 10 overall. The Cavs allowed 20 points in the paint in the third and were fortunate to be trailing 83-81 when it was over.
